The Highway To Hungary

SJC -> LHR -> BUD
Departing 26 July 2017
Arriving 28 July 2017

Yep, for the low, low price of $478.78 and a bunch of frequent-flyer miles, I just bought my plane ticket for Ozora. Well, half of it anyway....

I don't have a flight home yet, and I probably won't buy that for awhile, since I don't know what I want to do or where I want to go after the festival is over. For 2016, it was a couple of days in Vienna. For 2017, I don't know, but I'm thinking maybe Amsterdam, since I actually know a few people in .NL that could show me some interesting sights. Oslo or Helsinki or someplace up in northern Europe might be cool, too, although I'm not sure if I want to go somewhere where the days are 20+ hours long in the summertime. It's too bad that all of the places in the world that I want to see are so far away from each other - maybe I can figure out a reasonably-priced path from Budapest to Singapore or Tokyo[1] on the way home.

  1. If I really want to dream the impossible dream, going from Budapest to Australia or New Zealand would be the way to do it, because then after getting my psytrance on for a week, I'd head to the southern hemisphere for some skiing. Like I said, dreaming the impossible dream here. Not only is that likely the most expensive itinerary I could possibly come up with, it's also the most logistically-challenged, because I'd have to carry all my summer festival gear AND a bunch of winter clothing and/or ski equipment (well, my boots at a minimum). Not going to happen unless a very large chunk of free money just falls into my lap. We'll revisit this idea in 2019, hopefully with the aforementioned large chunk of free money. :-P ↩︎
